MLS Trick or Trick Blog Hop...

Hi all and welcome to an amazing Blog Hop featuring the MLS Summer CHA release "Trick or Trick". You should be coming from wonderful, talented Ro. If you would like to start from the beginning you can start with the MLS Blog. Also if you get lost you can always come back here and follow the links below.

A little about my project. I was so inspired by the Itsy Bitsy Spider circle paper and thus began my banner. I used all of the MLS Trick or Treat collection along with some chipboard letter, black glitter and some tulle.

Here is a full picture of the banner

And a close up of each of the components.

The witches feet, we drawn free hand. Each of the circle papers are 11" diameter so it's a pretty big banner but perfect to be displayed over a mantle.

I have trick to share with you all, don't have the perfect color ribbon for that layout? Use your glimmer mist, distress stains to create any color you need, just start with white ribbon and the options are endless.

Please share a "trick" regarding scrapbooking in the comment section and you may win a "treat". I will post the winner on Monday August 22.

And my secret letter for you is "E". Write it down and go back to the MLS Facebook wall and post the secret phrase after going thru everyone's post gathering ideas and each of the secret letters. Your next stop on the blog hop is with the amazing creative Kristine.

Here is the list for the blog hop stops:

Great banner. Thanks for sharing. My tip: look in the strangest places for ephemera to add that little zip to your art pieces.

Adorable!

Tip: brads, and other metal embellies, can be coloured but pressing into your VersaMark (or other embossing ink) pad and then into embossing powder. Heat set and let cool.

Tip #2: Use pliers to hold the embellie so you don't burn your fingers. They get very hot!

Cool banner!! A tip is to create a frame on your photos without using paper: use a dark distress colour and a sponge to drag along the edges of your photo. This will create an illusion of depth!

A trick about scrapbooking ... hhmm ... put together page elements for 2 or 3 different layouts that you can put together at a mania or crop night -- that way you aren't having to carry so much and have all the elements for that page ready to go. And what a sweet sweet banner creation!

Sweet banner!

Love all the tips that people are leaving in their comments.

My tip is: re-use the magnets you get in the mail by covering it with great scrapbook papers then cutting it with scissors into a nice shape to make your own beautiful magnets!

A tip I learned recently was when using a cutting machine and you have a small extras of CS just cut out small circles or such and they are easy to grab and add to other LO's and you don't have to do the work then!

How very creative! Those witches feet are so cute! Heres my trick: I have a dry erase board hanging over my creation space. When inspiration strikes I just sketch or jot it there. Its right in front of me so I'm sure to use it right away.

Cute banner. A trick for cheap journaling spots is to use the small tablets from the $1 bins and the notebook punch to make your own spots to fit your page/space.

Love your banner!!

I trick I use is to title your pages with leftover mis-matching alphas, by titling your page and then inking around your letters. Remove your letters and the outline will remain!!

Fabulous banner! Wonderful job on the hand-drawn witch feet - so cute! My tip would be - once you finish a page/project...use the scraps for a card! You can get so many creative results from a few scraps...and you'll be able to keep your stash down (so that you can buy more new stuff! ;) )
Thanks for sharing this fun project!

Cute banner ! Great idea ! One "trick" I learned about scrapbooking is organizing most of my tools, scissors, pens, and you name it, in a clear hanging shoe organizer. I can scan it easily to find what I need fast ! It's got 24 pockets to fill with goodies !

Scrapycandy said...

I hide my journaling by making a slit in the layout and making a pocket in the back for the pull out journaling card. The card peeks out from the slit.

Michelle said...

boo-yah love the banner!!the legs are adorable love it!!

Love that banner! My trick to share: if you sketches, you can use them for altered notebooks, too! Get your favourite one photo sketch, replace the photo with a sentiment card or die cut, and you are ready to start on your notebook! I promise it will look great!

I really think those witches feet will get me out of Kansas, they are soooo cute:)

TIP: Do you have loads of stickers and rubons everywhere and want to organize them??

Put them in clear sleeves in a binder and be sure to mark the top so they don't spill out later. when you are scrappin at home or going to a crop just pull the binder down and voila....embellie at your finger tips!!

I just love the witch feet!! So fun!

To make cute candy corn, cut 3 identical triangles out of orange paper, yellow paper and white paper. Then use a corner round to round of the corners, cut them into three's holding them all together and cutting them at the same time and then piece them back together to make three candy corn pieces that are alternate colors... Love your banner!!
