Keepsake and Goodbye from MLS DT...

Well this will be my last posting as an MLS Design Team Member.  I have enjoyed tremendously working with the wonderfully talented Helen Chu and her DT.  Next week check out the My Little Shoebox blog to meet all the new design team members.  I'm sure it's going to be a blast for them as it was for me.

I leave you with some spring keepsake project and layout.

Enjoy...

Up in the trees Cards...

Last month I got to work with one of the awesome new lines from MLS at Winter CHA 2012.  It's the up in in the trees line.  I really enjoyed working and creating with this line.  My favorite card is the HI card, I don't know what it is, maybe the colors, maybe the woodgrain, but it's just my fave.

A Pretty Little Things Wreath...

I have been on Pinterest way too much.  I was inspired by the toilet paper art that so many have been creating and I had the idea I could use some of the yummy MLS papers to create something that was similar.

Here is what I was able to come up with:

Here is a close up of the rolled flowers from MLS

I really love the look of it and can't wait to put it in my front door.

Enjoy...

MLS DT Call...

Just wanted to share with all of you that read my blog that MLS is having a design team call.  Below find the 411:

My Little Shoebox Design Team Call

My Little Shoebox is looking for talented, motivated, responsible designers who have time to commit to design layouts and projects each month with our products and promote our products online and at their local stores.  We haven't set a specific number of designers for our team.  We welcome international submissions.

We are looking for:
1. Enthusiastic, creative people that love My Little Shoebox and are able to do monthly assignments such as layouts, projects, and cards with our products.
2.  You must post your work on 2 different galleries plus the MLS galleries
3. You must be able to commit to a 12 months term, which will be from
 April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013.
4. You must be at least 18 years of age.
5. You agree to release the rights of your designs to My Little Shoebox for display on the company website, blog,  and in company publications.
6.  If needed, your designs may also be needed for display at trade shows.
7. In addition, as a design team member, you will be contributing twice per term to our company newsletter and be required quarterly to make a photo or video highlighting a technique for the blog.
8. People that can take great pictures of their work in natural light, with a few close-ups.  Because we will be posting your work on our company blog, we want your work to shine.  Dark photos, shadows and flash spots don’t show your work well.
9. International submissions welcome.

In return you will receive:
1. A quarterly package with plenty of MLS products to design with.
2. Your picture and bio on the My Little Shoebox website
3. Your own personal gallery on the My Little Shoebox website.

To apply please send the following to dtcall@mylittleshoebox.com (please use your full name as the subject):
1. Full name, address, phone number and email address
2. 1 layout, 1 card and 1 project representing your best work using MLS products (jpeg files no larger than
 500 kb)
3. A link to your personal blog and to the online galleries or message boards that you post on.
4. Design teams that you currently are on.
5. Write a paragraph about yourself telling us why you'd like to be a part of the MLS team.
6. If you've been published.
7.  If you teach classes.
Submission deadline is March 9, 2012
Our design team members will be announced on April 13, 2012

We thank you in advance for all of your work and appreciate your entry!

Origami Folding Flower Tutorial...

With spring just around the corner, I wanted to share with you all an origami folding flower tutorial.  I have been addicted to making these paper flowers.  We even make it as a family activity.  Hope you enjoy it!

1.     Start with a 3x3 piece of paper. I used Enchanted Garden’s Classy paper.  I love all the colors.
2.     Fold the bottom corner to the top to make a triangle, this will be the side seen on the outside of your flower so make sure you are happy with your choice.
3.     Fold the right bottom corner of the triangle to the top point.
4.     Repeat for the left side.  I used a bone folder to ensure my folds and edges were flat.  You should now have a square.

5.  Fold the top left flap of the square backwards as shown.  This should form a little kite shape on each flap.  Repeat for the other side.
6.     Fold the top triangles as shown so that they are level with the edge of the paper.
7.     Fold the right flap along the existing crease.   Repeat for the other side.
8.     Place adhesive to one triangle as shown and attach to the other triangle.

9.     Here is a completed petal. Repeat steps 1-8 to create five more.  Note where I placed my adhesive to adhere the petals together.
10.     Adhere all six petals together.  When you have adhered three of the six petals add the floral wire in the middle as shown.

Here is what the completed flower looks like.

Once you have created a few flowers you can create your own bouquet of flowers.  I used all 6 papers from Enchanted Garden to create my flowers.  I also added a few leaves using the “B” side of Exquisite and adhering them to some floral wire.  Here is my completed bouquet:

Winter Wonderland...

It was so great to get to work with MLS mid release: Winter Wonderland.  It's perfectly whimsical and also has traditional colors.  I did two cards using the more whimsical and non-traditional colors:

Using the more traditional colors; red and green, I created this wonderful wreath to hang over the door.

Here is a close-up look:

One more look, I used border punches to create the wreath.

Love the girl silhouette from that card

another card, love those rolly flowers.  so easy to use.

loved creating these layouts, they make me so happy to see these pictures of such important girls in my life.
